by Cajetan Cerri (1826 - 1899)

Von allen Sprüchen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Von allen Sprüchen halte
den Spruch in Ehren mir:
„Wie auch das Schicksal walte,
nur mutig für und für!“

So lange wir vertrauen
auf unser'n eig'nen Mut
und hoffend vorwärts schauen,
so lang' ist alles gut.

[Und sei dein Hoffen, Sehnen
auch nur ein schöner Traum
zu trocknen deine Tränen,
gib ihm im Herzen Raum.]1

Lass immerhin nur walten
das feindliche Geschick,
denn alles umgestalten
kann selbst ein Augenblick.

Heut' traurig, morgen munter,
das ist der Dinge Lauf;
und sinkt die Sonne unter,
so geh'n die Sterne auf!

Confirmed with C. Cerri, Inneres Leben, Wien, 1860. Note: Randhartinger uses different punctuation in stanza 3, which changes the meaning slightly.

1 Randhartinger:
 Und sei dein Hoffen, Sehnen
auch nur ein schöner Traum,
zu trocknen deine Tränen
gib ihm im Herzen Raum.
