by Karl Heinrich Bruger (1800 - 1862)

Feierabend
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich hab' mein Tagewerk vollbracht
mit treuem Sinn.
Wie bring' ich nun die lange Nacht
alleine hin?

Die hohe Kirche blickt so weit
von ferne her;
es macht das dumpfe Grabgeläut
das Herz [mir]1 schwer.

Am Walde steht ein kleines Haus.
Die Liebste mein,
man trug soeben weit hinaus
ihr kaltes Bein!

Ich hab' mein Tagewerk vollbracht
mit treuem Sinn.
Mich selber bringt die kalte Nacht
zur Ruhe hin!
