Kennst du die Blume, die zur Nacht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Kennst du die Blume, die zur Nacht
geheimnisvoll den Kelch erschließt,
wenn niemand lauscht, wenn niemand wacht,
der Düfte vollen Strom ergießt?

In Einsamkeit hat sie verhaucht,
sie liebt es, [stille]1 zu verblüh'n;
wenn hell empor der Morgen taucht,
sieht er nur ihrer Blätter Grün.

So bricht, entfernt vom Taggewühl,
gehegt in deines Busens Haus,
ein hohes, herrliches Gefühl
zur reinsten Blüte plötzlich aus.

Lass es verströmen und vergeh'n
für dich allein in stiller Brust!
Gemeines darf die Welt nur seh'n,
soll sie nicht töten deine Lust.
