Da drüben
Language: German (Deutsch)
Da drüben vom Waldessaume,
da wehen Lieder mir her.
Wohl möcht' ich jubeln und singen,
doch wird mir's im Herzen so schwer.

Die Lüfte tragen die Töne
vom Berg zum Tal herab;
das Echo hallet sie wieder
und träget sie leise zu Grab.

Mir ist, als wären es Träume,
die mir so golden gelacht,
die hat so oft das Echo
im Leben zurück mir gebracht.

Stets leiser hört' ich sie klingen,
nun sind sie alle verhallt.
Ich mag nicht jubeln und singen,
wenn ferne das Echo erschallt.
