Am Ufer eines Flusses
Language: German (Deutsch)
Still hinab zur Silberquelle,
zu der stummen Wandlerin,
möchte doch mit deiner Welle
all mein Leid hinunter zieh'n!

Du, die ich so innig liebe,
deren Blick mein Schicksal ist,
komm, ach komm, denn sehnsuchtstrübe
schwimmt das Aug', wo du nicht bist!

Diese Flamme, mein Verderben,
teile, teile sie mit mir;
ohne dich nur werd' ich sterben,
denn ich lebe nur in dir.

Deiner Augen dunkles Feuer
hat dies Glutgefühl erweckt,
und mit ihm zerriss der Schleier,
der der Jugend Frieden deckt.

Ha, vollende meine Leiden,
sprich ein Wort Vernichtung mir!
Freudig, selig werd' ich scheiden,
und noch sterbend dank' ich dir!
