An die Natur
Language: German (Deutsch)
Nein, es ging nicht ganz verloren,
jenes Glück der gold'nen Zeit.
O Natur, wer dir geschworen,
ahnet Edens Seligkeit.
In des Lebens wilden Stürmen
wird dies fromme Zartgefühl
wie ein Schutzgeist uns beschirmen,
und der Friede lohnt am Ziel.

Was auch Menschenwut zertrümmert
auf des Krieges blut'ger Spur,
ewig neu und friedlich schimmert
deine Zauberkraft, Natur!
Selig, wer mit reinem Herzen
treu sich deinem Dienste weiht,
du versüßest alle Schmerzen
in des Lebens rauhem Streit.

Und auf deinem stillen Pfade
hast du Freuden ausgesät
bis zum stygischen Gestade,
wo des Siegers Palme weht.
Mutter, der mein Herz sich weihte,
laut'rer Wonne Spenderin,
führe schuldlos, dir zur Seite,
friedlich mich durchs Leben hin!
