An den Schlaf

Schließe gütig meine Augenlieder,
Sanfter Schlaf, der mich zu lange floh!
Komm und zeige Damons Bild mir wieder,
So wie jüngst voll Reize, süß und froh!

Ach, im falschem Traum wähnt ich, er liebe
Mich so sehr, als mein Herz für ihn brennt;
Da gestand auch ich ihm meine Triebe,
Sagt ihm frei, was er itzt noch und nicht kennt.

Und da weckte mich des Traums Entzücken,
Doch sein Angedenken blieb noch hier.
Guter Schlaf, o willst mich beglücken,
Schenke öfter solche Träume mir!
