by Guillaume Lekeu (1870 - 1894)

Quelque antique et lente danse
Language: French (Français)
Quelque antique et lente danse
Par le marbre s’achemine.
La pénombre s’illumine,
un rêve bien doux s’avance.
Paros triste se balance ta splendeur.
Tout s’élimine
en l’oubli la Mort immine.
Et l’ombre tombe plus dense.
Seul tu vis, ô Beauté
Sur l’univers emporté
Dans l’éternel décembre.
Semant de troublantes fleurs
La douleur de ce soir sombre
Fuit l’amphore aus pâles pleurs.
