by Georg Christian Dieffenbach (1822 - 1901)

Hinauf
Language: German (Deutsch)
Mit Jubel steigt die Lerche
Hinauf zum Himmelsblau;
Hinauf zum Lichte strebet
Jed' Blümchen auf der Au.

Hinauf streb' auch dein Sehnen,
Hinauf zum ew'gen Licht,
Dort suche deinen Frieden;
Hier findest du ihn nicht.

Hinauf den Blick gerichtet,
So gehe unverwandt
Durch Streit und Leid hienieden
Zum ew'gen Vaterland.

Dort wehen heil'ge Palmen
Dir Gottes Frieden zu,
Dort blühen deine Rosen,
O sel'ge Heimatsruh!

Confirmed with Georg Christian Dieffenbach, Gedichte, Berlin, New-York und Adelaide: Justus Albert Wohlgemuth, 1857, page 151. Appears in Kämpfen und Ringen.
