by Heinrich Leopold Wagner (1747 - 1779)

An den Mond
Language: German (Deutsch)
[Wolkenleeres]1 Silberlicht,
[Jungfernkeuscher]2 Mond!
[Lächle]3 keinem Bösewicht,
In dem Falschheit thront.

Fliehe S**** Residenz,
Thorheit ruht auf ihr:
[Lieber]4 Mond, ach komm, und glänz',
Meiner Freundin, mir!

Unbemerket strahlst du dort!
Wir nur können glühn,
Uns rückst du die Herzen fort,
Guter Gott! wohin?

Sehen deine Klarheit wir,
Wie sie auf uns schwebt?
O so neiden wir sie dir,
Unser Busen bebt;

Bebt, nicht ganz so rein zu sein,
[Silberlicht! wie]5 du: --
Schnell [hüllt]6 dich ein Wölkchen ein,
Unser Herz fühlt Ruh.
