Die Frühglocke
Language: German (Deutsch)
Kein Ende dämmerte der schwarzen Fiebernacht.
Wahnwitzige Höllen hatt' ich zwecklos durchgedacht.
Ich führe sonst dort innen straffes Regiment,
'sist kein Gedanke, der nicht meine Handschrift kennt.

Heut' aber ward vom Fieber mir die Macht entrückt;
in wüstem Traumgetümmel, fratzenhaft zerstückt,
tappte der wirre Geist; kein Halt, kein Heft zu fassen;
entwaffnet lag ich da, den Furien überlassen.

Horch! durch die Finsternis, wo noch kein Schimmer graut,
summt einer fernen Glocke sanfter Trosteslaut.
Erlösung! Tag! Junggläubig Leben atmet "Ich!"
Und Morgenschlummer lispelt: "Menschen grüßen dich."
