O mal­‑educado não tirava o chapéu em nenhuma situação.
Nem às senhoras quando passavam, nem em reuniões importantes, 
nem quando entrava na igreja.
Aos poucos a população começou a ganhar repulsa pela
indelicadeza desse homem, e com os anos esta agressividade
cresceu até chegar ao extremo: o homem foi condenado à guilhotina.
No dia em questão colocou a cabeça no cepo, sempre, e orgulhosamente, com o chapéu.
Todos aguardavam.
A lâmina da guilhotina caiu e a cabeça rolou.
O chapéu, mesmo assim, permaneceu na cabeça.
Aproximaram­‑se, então, para finalmente arrancarem o chapéu àquele mal­‑educado. 
Mas não conseguiram.
Não era um chapéu, era a própria cabeça que tinha um formato estranho.
