Il rifugio

L'umile chiostro, ai vecchi alberi intorno
parla tra l'ombre un'umile parola
dal cuor della campagna, esile e sola
voce nel gran silenzio del giorno. 
Sola, se non tra l'ombra che s'invola,
cennino dall'aereo soggiorno
i nidi, e il vento in agile ritorno
narri tra i pioppi qualche antica fola. 
Il chiostro dorme, all'ombra degli abeti;
un tremolio di luce, un soffio lieve,
in canto d'un augel, solo, smarrito. 
E dal giardino i mesti anacoresti
guardan, pregando, nuvole di neve
su camminar le vie de l'infinito.
