Det er høitid over havet
Language: Norwegian (Bokmål)
Det er høitid over havet,
dødens, ensomhedens høitid.
Ingen vildsom vove vugger,
ingen livets læbe aander.
Stille, dybt Nirwana-øde
over nattens ocean.

Og i ensomhedens høitid
dybest indi maaneskinnet
flyder der en hvid og ensom,
hvid og sælsom
nattetaage

Ja, i ensomhedens høitid
dybest indi maaneskinnet
flyder der en hvid og ensom,
hvid og sælsom
nøgen kvinde.

Langt og langsomt op hun stiger -
- hagen strukken stivt fra halsen -
og de grønne fiskeøine
taaretomme, stive, trætte
stirrer længselsfuldt mod øster,
der hvor solen snart skal rinde -
imod livet, imod landet.

Det er høitid over havet,
dødens, ensomhedens høitid.
Ingen vildsom vove vugger,
ingen livets læbe aander.
Bare dybt Nirwana-øde
over nattens ocean.

Og hun hæver sine arme
og de sløve læber aabnes,
og hun skriger over havet
langt, langt bort.

Og hun synker atter lydløst
ned i dybet, ned i natten.

Men igjennem maanedisen
i den dødsens dybe stilhed
flagrer der et kvindeskrig
som et maagehvin henover
oceanets dybe øde.
