para la bandera que anduvo sobre él!

¡Caballito criollo que de puro heroico
se alejó una tarde de bajo su ombú,
y en alas de extraños afanes de gloria
se trepó a los Andes y se fue al Perú!

¡Se alzará algún día, caballito criollo,
sobre una eminencia un overo en pie;
y estará tallada su figura en bronce,
caballito criollo que pasó y se fue!
