Die Spinnerin
Language: German (Deutsch) 
Ein Mägdlein sitzet vor der Thür, 
Das Rädlein dreht sich um: 
"Was spinnest du, fein Mägdlein dir?" 
"O, kümm're dich nicht drum!" 

"Ei Mägdlein, ei, würdst nicht so roth, 
Spännst nicht das Brautbett dein." 
"Zum Brautbett thät die Braut erst noth, 
Die spinnt wohl feinern Lein." 

"Der Lein ist gut, der Lein ist gut, 
Nur viel zu spröd', o weh!" 
"Und ist er spröde, ei, das thut 
Der Spinnerin blos weh."  

"Wenn spröde thun dir wehe thut, 
So helf' ich dir sogleich." 
Er küßt die Dirne wohlgemuth: 
Brautlinnen gab's da weich.
