Vertrau' mir nicht, mein schönes Kind,
Glaub nimmer meinem Schwur, 
Ich bin so flüchtig wie der Wind 
Und wie des Glückes Spur.

Wie Rosenduft verweht mein Sang,
Verweht mein kleines Lied,
Wenn's dir auch tief zum Herzen drang,
Es flieht, dahin es flieht.

So flieht die Liebe schnell dahin,
Die mir das Herz erfaßt,
Gar unstät ist mein loser Sinn, 
Ich leb' in froher Hast.

Bin heute hier und morgen dort,
Wie mich das Leben dingt,
O glaube nie dem Liebeswort,
Das dir ein Spielmann singt!
