Und wenn die Vöglein lustig sind, 
Sie wissen wohl warum. 

Den Strauß, den ich trage 
Von blauen Vergißmeinnicht, 
Er hat ihn selbst gepflücket, 
Der mir im Herzen liegt. 

Ihr Vöglein im Walde, 
Und singt ihr noch so laut, 
Ihr könnt im Mai nicht froher sein, 
Als eine junge Braut.
