2. Widmung  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: German (Deutsch)
Dir weih' ich diese ersten Sänge,
Die mir der Muse Gunst verlieh'n;
Dir bring' ich diese ersten Klänge,
Der trunk'nen Seele Harmonie'n!
Was Götter mir ins Herz gegossen,
Empfange nun aus lieber Hand;
Es kommt der Liederbach geflossen,
Und ringsher grünet herrlich Land.

Text Authorship:

  • by Albert Jaessing (1850 - 1870), "Weihe", subtitle: "An mein deutsches Volk", appears in Saitenklänge, Leipzig: Heinrich Matthes, first published 1868

3. Im Walde  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: German (Deutsch)
Im [Wald]1 ist's so schaurig,
Im Wald ist's so fern,
Im Wald bin ich traurig,
Und doch so gern.

Da rauschen die Bäume
So dumpfen Gesang,
In sinnende Träume
Versink' ich bang.

Ein mächtiges Sehnen
Durchdringet mein Herz;
Hier quellen die Thränen,
Hier strömt der Schmerz.

Im Wald darf ich weinen,
In waldigen Schooß:
O, weinen, o weinen
Der Liebe Loos!

Text Authorship:

  • by Albert Jaessing (1850 - 1870), "Der Wald", appears in Saitenklänge, in Träumen, Leipzig: Heinrich Matthes, first published 1868
