Am Grabe stehn wir stille
Und säen Thränensaat,
Des lieben Pilgers Hülle,
Der ausgepilgerthat.

Er ist nun angekommen,
Wir pilgern noch dahin,
Er ist nun angenommen,
Der Tod war ihm Gewinn.

Er schaut nun, was wir glauben,
Er hat nun, was uns fehlt,
Ihm kann der Feind nichts rauben,
Der uns versucht und quält.

Ihn hat nun als den Seinen
Der Herr dem Leib entrückt,
Und während wir hier weinen,
Ist er so hoch beglückt.

Er trägt die Lebenskrone
Und hebt die Palm' empor,
Und singt vor Gottes Throne
Ein Lied im höhern Chor.

Wir armen Pilger gehen
Hier noch im Thal umher,
Bis wir ihn wiedersehen,
Und selig sind, wie er.

Er lebet der im Grabe war
