2. Der letzte Gruss  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: German (Deutsch)
Im Eckgemach bist du allein,
Der Wind singt in den Weiden,
Es wirft der Mond sein Licht herein,
Das ist der Tag zum Scheiden!

Es spült der See mit leisem Schaum
An's Ufer Well' um Welle,
Die Blüthen streut der Apfelbaum
Auf deine stille Schwelle.

Ich geh' vorbei mit zagem Fuß,
Der Wind singt in den Weiden,
Ich ruf' hinauf den letzten Gruß,
Das ist der Tag zum Scheiden!

  • by Karl Stieler (1842 - 1885), "Letzter Gruß", appears in Hochland-Lieder, in 8. Wanderstunden, no. 3, first published 1879
