Minns du våren, kärlekstrånadens
första tvekande drömmars tid,
kokilans sång i Tjaitramånadens
klara leende nätters frid?
Minns du, hur sakta du vaggade,
älskade, på mina knän,
medan den svala aftonen daggade
mangons blomröda trän?

Lotusögonen sakta slöto sig,
doftande huvudet sjönk mot min arm,
samman, långsamt läpparna göto sig
stilla vi drömde, barm mot barm.
Stjärnorna, stora och spörjande,
skredo i kyligt blå,
hälften i glädje - och hälften i sörjande -
länge - dröjde vi så...
