Das sind die lieben Veilchen, die blüh'n im stillen Thal,
Blühen so heimlich im Moose versteckt,
Drum haben auch wir Kinder kein Veilchen entdeckt.

Und was steckt sein Köpfelein still empor?
Was lispelt aus dem Moose so leise, leis' hervor?
"Suchet, so findet ihr! suchet mich doch!" --
Ei, warte, Veilchen, warte! wir finden dich noch.

Setzt sich zu Rosse hin.
Rösslein das stehet noch;
Hänschen ruft: ,,Sehet doch,
Was ich ein Reiter bin!`` 

Jetzt fängt das Rösslein 
Ruhig zu gehen an.
Hänschen, du tapfrer Mann,
Hältst dich am Sattel dran! 
Schäm dich, Herr Reitersmann! 

Jetzt fängt das Rößlein 
Lustig zu traben an.
Hänschen, was wankst du doch?
Hänschen, was schwankst du doch?
Fängst ja zu schreien an! 

Drauf im Galopp gar 
Was fängt mein Hänschen an? 
Hopp, fliegt die Mütz' ihm fort,
Hopp, liegt mein Hänschen dort.
Das ist ein Reitersmann!
