Three Dreams

Song Cycle by Cedric Adderley

Word count: 141

1. Dreams [sung text not yet checked]

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

2. Dream Dust [sung text not yet checked]

Gather out of star-dust
    Earth-dust,
    Cloud-dust,
And splinters of hail,
One handful of dream-dust
    Not for sale.

3. I dream a world [sung text not yet checked]

I dream a world where man
No other man will scorn,
Where love will bless the earth
And peace its paths adorn
I dream a world where all
Will know sweet freedom's way,
Where greed no longer saps the soul
Nor avarice blights our day.
A world I dream where black or white,
Whatever race you be,
Will share the bounties of the earth
And every man is free,
Where wretchedness will hang its head
And joy, like a pearl,
Attends the needs of all mankind-
Of such I dream, my world!
