2. A Waist  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: English
A star glide, a single frantic sullenness,
  a single financial grass greediness.
Object that is in wood. Hold the pine, hold the dark,
hold in the rush, make the bottom.
A piece of crystal. A change, in a change that is remarkable
there is no reason to say that there was a time.
A woolen object gilded. A country climb is the best disgrace,
a couple of practices any of them in order is so left.

Text Authorship:

  • by Gertrude Stein (1874 - 1946), "A Waist"

3. The King of China's Daughter
 (Sung text)

Language: English
The King of China's Daughter,
She never would love me,
Though I hung my cap and bells upon
Her nutmeg tree.
For oranges and lemons,
The stars in bright blue air
(I stole them long ago, my dear)
Were dangling there.
The Moon did give me silver pence,
The Sun did give me gold,
And both together softly blew
And made my porridge cold;
But the King of China's daughter
Pretended not to see
When I hung my cap and bells upon
The nutmeg tree.
