1. De beelden en de gamelan
 (Sung text)

Language: Dutch (Nederlands) 
Van uit het dal, waarin de dorpjes liggen
verscholen tusschen palmen en bamboebosschen
stijgen gamelanklanken zacht op waar ik sta
op de tempelgang naast den stillen Boeddha.
Zacht... héél zacht stijgen ze op,
tokkelend en klokkend 
en omstreelen de
godenbeelden met teeren klank.
Voor me ligt de Merapi, 
die geheimzinnig
oprijst in het licht der maan.
Een gevoel vol heerlijkheid overweldigt me
en tranen komen me in de oogen.
