Glaukes sånger

Det är middag. De betande fåren, kullriga molnskockar lika,
vandrar långsamt på markerna,
ligger snart som stenrös orörliga.
Rensad säd är i bingarna, 
ryker ej mer av flitiga käppars pisk på solheta hällar.
Det är middag, och rökarna
börjar stiga från offrandets altar.

hälsar med fröjd den rosiga gryning.
Flickan, som levde tanklös som de,
vaknar och ser vissnad sin krans.
Enslig och grå gryr hennes morgon.
