Fern soll mir stehen Minne,

Vom Barette schwankt die Feder,
fliegt und wiegt im Winde sich,
unser Wams von Büffelleder
ist zerfetzt von Hieb und Stich.
Stich und Hieb
und ein Lieb
soll ein Landsknecht haben.
 
Uns're Linke auf dem Schwerte,
in der Rechten einen Spieß,
fechten wir, so weit die Erde,
bald für das und bald für dies,
die und das,
Suff und Fraß
soll ein Landsknecht haben.
 
Daß wir Beut' und Ruhm gewinnen,
zieh'n wir mutig in die Schlacht.
Einmal müssen wir von hinnen,
lustig drum bei Tag und Nacht!
Bei Nacht und Tag,
was er mag,
soll ein Landsknecht haben.
