Das Glück

Fragst mich, wo das Glück [mag]1 wohnen  --   
Sag' Dir die Antwort bündig und gut: 
Träume Du nicht von verlorenen Kronen, 
Nächtlich durchscheinend des Waldsee's Fluth. 
Such' Dich nicht müd' nach der blauen Blume, 
Die in welteinsamer Wildniß glüht, 
Glaub' es auch nicht Deiner alten Muhme, 
Daß in der Felswand ein Goldschatz glüht. 

Träume nicht, halte die Augen offen, 
Jedem begegnet einmal das Glück, 
Kommt Dir's entgegen, dann sei nicht betroffen, 
Laß' es vorüber nicht, weich' nicht zurück; 
Lach' es frisch an und thu' nicht erschrocken, 
Sprich Deinen Spruch, 's ist's die richtige Stund', 
Pack' es beherzt bei den goldenen Locken, 
Küß' es nur keck auf den blühenden Mund.
