by Ferdinand Ludwig Anders (1806 - 1872), as Ferdinand Stolle

Es duften die Lindenbäume
Language: German (Deutsch)
Es duften die Lindenbäume
in dunkler Abendzeit,
und tiefer wird und stiller
die Abendeinsamkeit.

Und blick' ich über die Wipfel
weit in die Nacht hinauf,
da steigen die gold'nen Sterne
aus ihrer Tiefe herauf.

Da drüben rauscht es im Garten
wie leiser Geisterchor;
es sind die silbernen Lilien,
sie singen sich Märchen ins Ohr.

Und kühle, stille Nachtluft,
die weht zu meiner Brust;
Ich bin mir die Ruhe des Abends
mit Innigkeit bewusst.

Confirmed with Ferdinand Stolle, Nacht und Morgen: Novellen, Phantasiestücke und Lieder, Leipzig, 1836 (above); and with Ferdinand Stolle, Ausgewählte Schriften, Leipzig, 1858 (changes in footnotes below).

Note for stanza 4, line 3, word 4 ("die"), provided by Johann Winkler: this a severe grammatical mistake in all Stolle editions available online and should be "Ich bin mir der Ruhe ... bewusst"; one could say "ich mache mir die Ruhe ... bewusst". There is no obvious artistic value in this mistake.
