by Johann Christian August Heinroth (1773 - 1843), as Treumund Wellentreter

Sehnen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Was ist's, dass mit den andern
ich nicht so froh mehr bin?
Allein für mich zu wandern
will jetzt mir nur zu Sinn!

Warum ist mir so bange,
warum das Herz so schwer?
Nur auf einsamem Gange,
da drückt mich's nicht so sehr.

Da quillt so warm, so innig
die Trän' aus voller Brust,
da wird mir still und sinnig,
da wird der Schmerz zur Lust.

Was hab' ich denn für Schmerzen?
Was hab' ich denn für Pein?
Mir ist, als sollt' im Herzen
es neu und anders sein.

Was lieben möcht' ich gerne;
nicht, was ich sonst geliebt.
Ist's hier, ist's in der Ferne,
was Ruh' und Glück mir gibt?
