Tief Blick in Blick
NOTE: the footnotes have been removed from this text; return to general view
Language: German (Deutsch)
Tief Blick in Blick, heiß Mund an Mund,
Laß Herz am Herzen schlagen!
Doch was die Lieb' ist, liebes Kind,
Das mußt du mich nicht fragen!

Wer wahrhaft liebt, der hat nicht Zeit,
sie in das Wort zu binden;
wer einst geliebt, dem liegt es weit,
er wird es nicht mehr finden.

Was soll das Wort? -- Den sel'gen Blick,
Den stillen Druck der Hände,
Den heißen Kuß erschöpfst du nicht
In Worten sonder Ende.

O liebe nur, o liebe nur,
O seufze, schmachte, weine,
O juble, lach', in allem bleibt
die Lieb', die ewig eine.

Tief Blick in Blick, heiß Mund an Mund,
Laß Herz am Herzen schlagen!
Doch was die Lieb' ist, liebes Kind,
Das mußt du mich nicht fragen!
