Vaterlandsgesang

Es lebt ein Gott! Die Stürme brausen,
Die Eiche kracht im Wetterschein,
Den Wandrer hüllet Nacht und Grausen,
Er traut auf Gott und lächelt drein.
Das Böse will sich frech gestalten,
Das Heil'ge ward der Hölle Spott: --
Wir trotzen muthig den Gewalten,
Im Glauben fest: "Es lebt ein Gott!"

Frei ist der Mensch! Tyrannenketten 
Sind Fäden, die ein Hauch verweht,
Wenn aus der Knechtschaft sich zu retten 
Im Sturm ein kühnes Volk ersteht.
Der Kämpfer Bund ist fest beschworen,
Den trennt nicht Macht, nicht List noch Tod.
Das Licht wird aus der Nacht geboren,
Aus Blut der Freiheit Morgenroth!

Für's Vaterland! O süße Töne,
Ihr heiligt Herz und Sinn und Mund.
Für's Vaterland sind Deutschlands Söhne 
Ein hochgeweihter Heldenbund.
Laßt lodern eure Flammenzeichen,
Wenn brecht ihr, schlaue Feinde, los,
Wir betten uns auf eure Leichen! --
Ein Grab in Vaterlandes Schooß!
