Meine Freude war die Rose
NOTE: the footnotes have been removed from this text; return to general view
Language: German (Deutsch)
Meine Freude war die Rose,
Aber ach! sie blüht nicht mehr:
Meine Hoffnung ist verschwunden,
Meine Welt ist freudenleer.

Für die Freuden fand ich Schmerzen,
Leiden fand ich für das Glück.
Meine Rose schwand und ließ mir
Nichts als Dornen nur zurück.

Rosen bringt der Frühling wieder,
Aber meine Rose nie.
Blüht, ihr Mädchen, wie die Rosen!
Niemals blühet ihr, wie sie.
