An den Mond
NOTE: the footnotes have been removed from this text; return to general view
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wolkenleeres Silberlicht,
Jungfernkeuscher Mond!
Lächle keinem Bösewicht,
In dem Falschheit thront.

Fliehe S**** Residenz,
Thorheit ruht auf ihr:
Lieber Mond, ach komm, und glänz',
Meiner Freundin, mir!

Unbemerket strahlst du dort!
Wir nur können glühn,
Uns rückst du die Herzen fort,
Guter Gott! wohin?

Sehen deine Klarheit wir,
Wie sie auf uns schwebt?
O so neiden wir sie dir,
Unser Busen bebt;

Bebt, nicht ganz so rein zu sein,
Silberlicht! wie du: --
Schnell hüllt dich ein Wölkchen ein,
Unser Herz fühlt Ruh.
