by Gerhard Anton Hermann Gramberg (1772 - 1816)

Der Fischer
Language: German (Deutsch)
Der Fischer ruht' im Nachen,
Den Firscher trug das Meer;
Stolz sah' er in die Ebne
Der feuchten Welt umher.

"Ist alles mein:  die Tiefe
Der lebenreichen Fluth,
Mein ist der hohe Himmel,
Der auf den Wellen ruht!"

Ihm schwoll das Herz im Busen;
Sein Netz lag ungespannt; --
Vergessen glitt das Ruder
Ihm selbst aus leichter Hand.

Da ging der Sturm hernieder,
Da trat die Well' empor; --
Der Fischer seinen Nachen,
Und, ach!  sich selbst verlor.
