by Feodor von Wehl (1821 - 1890)

Die Dorflinden
Language: German (Deutsch)
Im Dorfe stehn zwei Linden,
Bestrahlt vom Abendroth,
Die rauschend uns verkünden
Das Leben und den Tod.

Vor einer tanzt im Maien,
Gereihet Paar an Paar,
Zu lustigen Schalmeien
Der Jugend muntre Schaar.

Der andren düstrer Schatten
Den Kirchhof überdacht,
Wo man die Lebensmatten
Zur ew'gen Ruh gebracht.

Es glühn die beiden Linden
Im letzten Abendroth,
Die rauschend uns verkünden
Das Leben und den Tod.
