by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben (1798 - 1874)

Im Walde möcht' ich leben
NOTE: the footnotes have been removed from this text; return to general view
Language: German (Deutsch)
Im Walde möcht' ich leben
zur heißen Sommerzeit,
der Wald, der kann uns geben
viel Lust und Fröhlichkeit.

In seine kühlen Schatten
winkt jeder Zweig und Ast
das Blümchen auf den Matten
nickt mir: "Komm, lieber Gast!"

Wie sich die Vögel schwingen
im hellen Morgenglanz!
Und Hirsch' und Rehe springen
so lustig wie zum Tanz.

Von jedem Zweig und Reise
hör' nur, wie's lieblich schallt!
Sie singen laut und leise:
"Kommt, kommt in grünen Wald!"
