Das deutsche Lied die Waffe
NOTE: the footnotes have been removed from this text; return to general view
Language: German (Deutsch)
Du herrlich deutscher Männerchor,
Laß deine Lieder klingen,
Daß sie als heil'ges Opfermahl
Zum Himmel aufwärts dringen!
Zu unsers Vaterlandes Ruhm
Empor dich männlich raffe!
Die Fahne sei Palladium,
Das deutsche Lied die Waffe!

Du herrlich deutscher Männerchor,
Laß deine Lieder brausen!
Auf! bringe in der Feinde Heer
Entsetzen, Nacht und Grausen!
Begeist'rung für das Heiligthum
Im deutschen Herzen schaffe!
Die Fahne sei Palladium,
Das deutsche Lied die Waffe!

Du herrlich deutscher Männerchor,
Erhebe deine Schwingen!
Vom Bettler bis zum Fürstenthron
Laß deine Lieder klingen!
Des Vaterlandes alten Ruhm
Von Neuem wieder schaffe!
Die Fahne sei Palladium,
Das deutsche Lied die Waffe!
