by Friedrich Wilhelm August Schmidt (1764 - 1838)

Am Birkenzweige blättert
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Am Birkenzweige blättert
Der volle Keim sich auf;
Das frohe Eichhorn klettert
Am Stamm hinab, hinauf.
Die trägen Winterschläfer:
Waldbiene, Wesp' und Käfer
Und Hummel, wachen auf.

Mit grünen Wasserlinsen
Färbst sich das Wiesenmoor;
Es hüpft aus Schilf, und Binsen
Der muntre Frosch hervor.
Die Wasserjungfern fliegen
Am Ufer hin, und wiegen
Sich froh am jungen Rohr.

Und an den Gartenbämen
Wird alles weiß und grün.
Die Maienblümchen keimen,
Holunder, und Jesmin.
Bald wird die Ros', o Wonne!
Am wärmern Strahl der Sonne
Für dich, mein Jettchen, blühn.
