Herbst im Meere

Language: German (Deutsch)
Sonne so kühl und klar,
Herbstliche Ruh —
Lachst Du im Meer sogar
Freundlich mir zu?
Was mich gemieden,
Bringst Du zurück:
Glücklichen Frieden,
Friedliches Glück.

Wolken in Goldesschein,
Himmel in Flor —
Soll das die Liebe sein,
Die ich verlor?
Aber darunter
Leuchtet die See
Sonniger, bunter,
Stiller als je.

O, wie so klar und rein
Schaut sie mich an! —
Soll das die Liebe sein,
Die ich gewann?
Herbstliche Sonne,
Lauter und mild —
Innigster Wonne
Strahlendes Bild!
