Und horchen meinem Sang, 
Doch Niemand nimmt recht Theil daran 
Weiß, wie mein Herz so bang. 

Weiß, was da in die Saiten strömt, 
Was jeder Laut mir gilt, 
Und was, eh's noch zur Hälfte kömmt, 
Mein Aug mit Thränen füllt. 

Sie wundern meines Ausdrucks sich 
Und nennen ihn wohl Trug, 
Und meinen, sie bezahlen mich 
Mit ihrem Sold genug. 

O Noth, du lastest schwer auf mir, 
Kaum überwindbar schwer! 
Doch trüg' ichs gerne für und für
