Slumber sweetly
(Sung text for setting by A. Pease)
 Matches base text
Language: English
Slumber sweetly, darling baby,
Watchful eyes are on thee now,
While thy mother and the angels
Press their kisses on thy brow.
Hush, my darling, hush, my baby,
For the wild winds o'er the sea
Soon will bring the gallant sailor
Back to home and you and me.
Hush thee, baby, hush thee, dear,
Mother's near thee, do not fear !

Slumber on, our darling treasure,
Love's first pledge to him and me.
Our fond love, it knows no measure,
And our hopes are all in thee.
God in mercy spare him to us
And protect him on the sea,
Gentle breezes safely bear him
Back to home and you and me.
Hush thee, baby, hush thee, dear,
God is near thee, do not fear !
