Du an dem Marterholze
(Sung text for setting by S. Schmidt)
 Matches original text
Language: German (Deutsch)
Du an dem Marterholze,
geboren zu Bethlehem,
der du lagst zwischen Ochs und Esel
in der Krippe nicht gerade bequem.
Du von den Engelscharen
verkündet den Hirten im Feld.
Du an dem Marterholze,
du König und Herrscher der Welt.

Du an dem Marterholze,
im Tempel als Knabe schon klug.
Du an dem Marterholze,
der das Kreuz der Sünder trug.
Du an dem Marterholze,
du Licht und Heiland der Welt,
Du an dem Marterholze,
Prediger unterm Himmelszelt.

Du verkündest das ewige Wort.
Du heiltest die Kranken vor Ort,
bist Helfer uns in der Not.
Du erlittest den bitt ́ren Tod.
Du nahmst dem Tode sein Teil
und spendest Segen und Heil,
du Versöhner in Ewigkeit
segne auch uns in unsrer Zeit.
