Carnaval
 (Sung text for setting by F. Fourdrain)
 Matches base text
Language: French (Français)
Carnaval ! Joyeux Carnaval !
On s'èlance la foule assiège
Des hérauts à pied, à cheval,
Precèdant un riche cortège !

Une fanfare des clameurs
S'èlevent stridentes, sonores !
Du haut des chars il pleut des fleurs
Et des papiers multicolores

Saluez ! Saluez ! Saluez !
Voici la Reine tenant sa marotte ;
Elle a sa traine de gala,
Et des cheveux couleur carotte ;

Elle taquine son bouffon
Dont les lèvres restent muettes
Elle lui montre comment font
Font les petites marionnettes.

Il lui répond : Merci, m'amour :
De ces leçons-là je me passe
J'écoute l'âme du faubourg
Jusqu'à toi monter dans l'espace.

Je vois là-haut, je vois soudain
Le soleil s'exalter lui même
Reine, Reine, il baise ta main
Et fait flamber ton diadème.
