Liedchen für Tenor
(Sung text for setting by F. Schmidt)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich sitze hier
Vor meiner Thür
Und greif' in meine Zitter
Es schmecket mir
Mein Kännchen Bier
Dabei fürwahr nicht bitter.

Und werd' ich trüb',
So kommt mein Lieb
Gar leis einher geschlichen
Fragt, was mich schmerzt,
Und küßt und herzt,
Da ist mein Schmerz gewichen.

Dann nehm' ich warm,
Sie in den Arm
Und sing' ihr süße Lieder;
Sie gibt wohl Acht
Und scherzt und lacht.
Und drückt mich froh an's Mieder.

Set to music by Friedrich Schmidt (1772 - 1841), "Liedchen für Tenor", published 1838 [ tenor and piano ], in Europa. Chronik der gebildeten Welt, II. Band, Eilfte Lieferung
