Umkreist von grünen Gehegen,
Dem Wandrer entgegen.

Die Lüfte wehen reiner, die Unterwelt flieht,
Die Pfade sind schattig, der Cytisus blüht;
Wie mild ergeust sich die Frische
Der Balsamgebüsche!

Wie schimmert das Grün der arkadischen Flur!
Wie glänzen die Thäler von Gold und Azur!
Wie klingt im wolligen Kleide
Die silberne Weide!
