Herbstgang
(Sung text for setting by S. Jordan)
 See base text
Language: German (Deutsch)
Nebel brauen über den See,
Kranich ruf aus dunkler Höh!
Bleich die Sonne und grau die Welt,
nirgends ein Glück, daß Treue hält.

Leisen Schrittes mir zur Seit'
wandelt allein Frau Herzeleid.
Trägt ein nebelgrau Gewand,
welke Blumen in der Hand.

Tief in die Ferne ihr Auge sinnt -
ach, wie gleicht sie dir, mein Kind!
Hat dein Auge so dunkelklar,
hat dein nachtblau Lockenhaar.

Hat auch deinen seligen Mund,
der mein Herz geküßt so wund...
leise klopft mein Herz dir zu:
"Du mein liebes Unglück, du!"

Composition:

Set to music by Sverre Jordan (1889 - 1972), "Herbstgang", op. 5 no. 3
