Song for autumn
(Sung text for setting by C. Dougherty)
 See base text
Language: English
The grape-blue hills are ripe,
A thrill has stirred the aspen's carillon.
You foolish, chattering birds, be still:
My love is gone.

Thunder is on the fields and fear,
No thrushes sing,
And no bees hum,
But my heart's belfry rocks.
O hear!
My love is come!
