Der Gesang
(Sung text for setting by S. Schmiedt)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Gesang verschönt das Leben,
Gesang erfreut das Herz;
Ihn hat uns Gott gegeben,
Zu lindern Sorg' und Schmerz.

Die Vöglein alle singen
Ein lieblich mancherlei.
Sie flattern mit den Schwingen
Und lebet froh und frei.

Es tönet aus den Lüften,
Im hohen Jubilo,
In Wäldern und auf Triften:
Singt, Menschen, und seid froh!

Wohlauf denn! laßt uns singen
Den muntern Vögeln gleich!
Laßt All' ein Lied erklingen,
Von Lieb' und Freude reich !

 ...
